A Slap in the Face ?

Kang has found his power stroke after a slow start and hit his first home run in MLB off Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal, forcing the game into extra innings.

Showcase his ability to drive the ball to the opposite field with authority:

Tremendous power to lift a pitch that is few feet off the plate to a deep sacrifice fly. This is the kind of pitch that most hitters often resulting in a weak groundball, a pop fly, or swinging strike:

Nexen Heroes’ shortstop has unprecedentedly become the first Korean position player to make the jump from the Korea Baseball Organization to Major League Baseball. In limited playing time, Kang has piled up a gold glove-caliber UZR/150 either at SS or 3B, 15.9 and 42.9 respectively.

It would be surprising not to see Kang appears more frequently in the line-up, particularly given the fact that Josh Harrison and Jordy Mercer both struggling mightily, Jung Ho has shown some encouraging lines with a 26.7 O-Swing%, 21.1 LD%, .387 wOBA, and impressive .333/.377/.521 batting line; once again, all in a small sample. Kang could be good, but let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves, All-Star break should be a good time to see how his numbers will translate to the big leagues.
